Louis de la Trémoille ("Lewis De La Trimoville") is the subject of this exceedingly rare print from the 18th century, created by Thomas Jefferys, who was the Geographer to King George III. The Viscount of Thouars, also known as the Chevalier sans reproche (Knight without reproach), is shown here wearing armor and looking nobly serious. The fine details and accuracy displayed in this print make it not only a valuable genealogy relic for the House of La Trémoille but also one of the best examples of British portraiture engraving in the mid-18th century.
