by Pierre-Joseph Redouté

Recreate the charm of early 19th century French botany in your own home with this stunning reproduction of Pierre-Joseph Redouté's "Rosa Indica Stelligera" (better known as the Bengal Star Rose or Le Bengale Étoilé).

Published in the author's masterpiece Les Roses from 1817 through 1824, this reproduction highlights the renowned technique of stipple engraving pioneered by Redouté. In it, you'll find a single pink rose, whose petals have the appearance of a star, with a bright golden center, and is contrasted by open blossoms and tightly closed buds in shades of lush green. The author was referred to as the "Raphael of Flowers" and had the prestigious position of being the court artist for Queen Marie Antoinette and Joséphine Bonaparte.
