Boursault Rose - Rosa L'heritieranea

by Pierre-Joseph Redouté

Bringing the grandeur of the French imperial gardens into your home with this beautiful representation of the Boursault Rose (Rosa L'heritieranea), originally depicted by the renowned “Raphael of flowers,” Pierre Joseph Redouté.

Extracted from his magnum opus, the series of books entitled “Les Roses,” produced between 1817 and 1824, this artwork wonderfully portrays the gentle, semi-double purplish-pink petals and gracefully arched shape of the classic rambling rose variety Boursault. Redouté’s art was well-loved by French royalty, such as Marie Antoinette and Empress Joséphine, famous collectors of this species of roses at Château de Malmaison.
