This beautiful illustration is that of a German Officer in 1588, captured in an engraving made in the 18th century. The engraving is taken from a detailed observation by the famous cartographer and geographer, Thomas Jefferys. This is a perfect example of the change from the medieval period to the Renaissance period with regard to details such as sleeve detailing and stiffness of the costume.
