Corymb Rose - Rosa Dumetorum

by Pierre-Joseph Redouté

Re-create the glorious era of botanical art in your home with this magnificent reproduction of Plate 97, Rosa Dumetorum, better known as the Corymb Rose or Thicket Rose, which was beautifully illustrated by the famous Pierre-Joseph Redouté. This painting was created between 1817 and 1824, during the publication of his iconic masterpiece collection, "Les Roses," where you can clearly understand why he earned the nickname "Raphael of Flowers." The species of wild canine rose was cultivated in the famous gardens of Empress Joséphine Bonaparte at Château de Malmaison.

The artwork depicts a slender stem decorated with delicate soft pink roses with visible pale gold stamens. As always, Redouté's exceptional ability to create beautiful stipple engravings is captured in this work, where you can see the fragile buds and perfectly veined green foliage.
