"Habit of a Georgian in 1768," sometimes referred to as "Georgien" in French, is an interesting example of 18th-century costume history. The engraving was created in London by Thomas Jefferys, who served as the Geographer to King George III, and published in A Collection of the Dresses of Different Nations, Antient and Modern (1757–1772).Though the engraving was published by Jefferys, its artistic manner is influenced by the ethnographic works of French artist Jean-Baptiste Le Prince, who specialized in depicting peoples of the Russian Empire and Caucasus.
