Odontoglossum Schroderianum - Schroeder's Oncidium

by Henry Frederick Conrad Sander

This elegant botanical illustration beautifully depicts Schroeder’s Oncidium previously known as Odontoglossum Schroederianum. This artwork is taken from Henry Frederick Conrad Sander’s magnum opus, Reichenbachia, which is considered to be one of the finest examples of orchidology and lithography from the Victorian era.

The plant was named after Baroness von Schröder, a very prominent character in the realm of orchid cultivation. The artwork elegantly presents the beautiful undulating shapes of the petals of the plant along with the intricate patterns on them that look like those of a tiger.
