Pleated Iris

By Pierre-Joseph Redouté

Experience the amazing blend of science and art in this beautiful reproduction of "Iris Plicata" (Iris Plissée), from Pierre-Joseph Redouté’s awesome 19th-century work, Les Liliacées (1802–1816) (Redouté, 1802). He's known as the "Raphael of Flowers" because he could capture the glow and softness of plants like no one else.

The piece focuses on the "plicata" pattern, a stunning natural occurrence where violet and indigo edges seem to sew into a light base. Each line in this softly curled flower shows Redouté's amazing stipple engraving method, adding a timeless charm that mixes classic French romance with royal flair right in your house.
