By Pierre-Joseph Redouté

Step back into the golden age of botanical painting with this beautiful reproduction of Amaryllis Regina (commonly referred to as the Mexican Lily or Amaryllis de la Reine) that was originally sketched by the famous French court painter Pierre-Joseph Redouté.

This masterpiece was originally published between 1802 and 1816 in a series entitled Les Liliacées compiled by Pierre-Joseph Redouté and constitutes one of the finest examples of botanical illustration in the 19th century.

Pierre-Joseph Redouté, often referred to as the "Raphael of Flowers," directly painted this gorgeous perennial from life in the gardens of Château de Malmaison which belonged to Empress Joséphine, wife of Napoleon.
