Apollo

by Thomas Jefferys

This extremely rare and genuine 18th century copper plate engraving of the Greek and Roman god, Apollo, who was worshipped as the god of music, poetry, and light, is a remarkable work of art created by the renowned English engraver and cartographer Thomas Jefferys (c. 1719-1771), who was celebrated as "Geographer to King George III."

Coming directly from an exceedingly rare mid-1700's London print publication, this engraving boasts of remarkable classical linework, beautiful drapery, and excellent balance of Enlightenment design. An excellent addition to a collection of Georgian era prints and classical mythology artwork.
