Blackbeard's Mini Golf, Six Bumpers in Fresno, California

by John Margolies

Step back in time to the golden age of leisure in America through this minimalist photograph of the Six Bumpers obstacle course from Blackbeard’s Family Entertainment Center in Fresno, California. Taken in 1987 by legendary photographer John Margolies, this photograph transforms the mundane designs of roadside commercial architecture into minimalist fine art.

The strong shadows, cracked concrete edges, and faded green felt create a unique combination of retro aesthetics and minimalist geometry.
