Short-Styled Rose - Rosa Brevistyla Leucochroa

by Pierre-Joseph Redouté

Imbue your interiors with the refined grace of the French court through this stunningly preserved fine art print from "Short-Styled Rose" (Rosa Brevistyla Leucochroa) by the incomparable Pierre-Joseph Redouté.

First featured in his magnificent Les Roses series, which was released between 1817 and 1824, the artwork depicts a lovely bouquet of brilliant white and pale yellow flowers bursting with full bloom. At the center of each blossom, there is an elegant gold-colored heart surrounded by an impressive display of dark, prickly green leaves.

Renowned worldwide as the "Raphael of flowers," Redouté was employed by Marie Antoinette and Empress Joséphine as the official artist of the French court. With an uncanny ability to fuse scientific precision and poetic beauty into one unique artwork, he was known for his superb technique of stipple engraving, creating remarkable color gradation of velvety petals.
