This is an excellent representation of the Pacific Northwest car culture that still exists. This photograph, taken in 1987 by John Margolies, is an excellent way to preserve the unique Mills Saddle N’ Togs sign on 4th & Main Street in Ellensburg, Washington. The sign, placed against a beautiful blue sky, is known for its weather board lettering, pink neon tubing, and 3D cowboy hat. Margolies’ works can be found in the Library of Congress and show mid-century vernacular architecture before the interstate age.
