This photograph captures, in 1980, an icon of 20th century Americana by renowned roadside photographer John Margolies: a typical Champlin Gas Station located on the roads of Belleville, Kansas. This photograph shows the dilapidated, red and white colored canopy above two typical old-fashioned fuel pumps including a tall visible gas pump with a Champlin globe mounted on top and a second pump station.

John Margolies, a renowned photographer of America’s disappearing commercial architecture, captured the distinctive Champlin crown logo, mid-century signage and architecture of the Champlin Refining Company before they disappeared from existence.
