Blackbeard's Mini Golf, Star and Two Bumpers in Fresno, California

by John Margolies

Recreate a fun snapshot of old-time America with this stunning photo from the acclaimed architectural critic John Margolies. This aerial, clean-lined photo features the colorful geometric shapes of an iconic mini-golf obstacle called Star and Two Bumpers at Blackbeard's Family Entertainment Center in Fresno, California. The bold combination of the bright red star embedded in the deep green astroturf combined with the antique white bumpers creates a perfect pop-art image of a 20th-century roadside attraction.

An important addition to any collection of 1950s photography, old California art, and roadside pop culture.
