Berneice's Barber Shop in San Bernardino, California

by John Margolies

Enjoy a blast from the past on Route 66 with this impressive example of classic mid-century Americana. Captured on camera in 1977 by the famous architectural historian and photographer, John Margolies, this amazing artwork showcases Berneice’s Barber Shop in San Bernardino, California.

From its unique Spanish tile roof elements, hand painted red and blue lettering, right through to the vintage pay phone booth that stands proudly outside, this artwork is an exemplar of “commercial kitsch”. John Margolies devoted his entire life to capturing these fast-disappearing examples of roadside architecture, and this restored print is an exciting celebration of the golden age of California car culture.
